Update due to Covid-19.
We are back on the 12th September with an all new set up.  Due to safety guidlines at Magnus academy backed up by government advise, the format of our school will be changing.  We have decided to put more focus on the drama and workshops at StageAhead.  We will this term be focusing  on putting together a short production of which we can get filmed at the end of term.
Social distancing measures and regular hand washing will be a must and all coaches will be wearing protective visors for the safety of your children and themselves.
Risk assessment has been carried out on site and Principal and Deputy Principal hae taken a course in Covid-19 Awareness.  We want a fun environment where the children feel safe but we take very seriously the threat of the pandemic.
StageAhead Theatre School is The East Midlands Newest and most exciting Theatre School for 4 -18 year olds.   It opened in September 2017 at the Magnus Academy Church Of England School every Saturday of term time.
StageAhead focuses on the Arts of Drama, Dance and Voice and gives it's students real insight into the industry at the same time as being fun and keeping them active.  It is a place they can express themselves through the arts and make great new like minded friends.
StageAhead has been set up by Wayne Smith, an Actor and Singer who has spent the last 20 years in the entertainment world and the last 10 years in Musical Theatre.
His extensive career has taken him to London’s West End with "Jersey Boys" and "Dirty Dancing" and he has toured the UK and Europe with various productions, including "Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat", "Dreamboats & Petticoats" and more. He is still very much in the industry represented by top London agency QTalent and still performs in shows, as and when he can.
StageAhead is his newest passion.  It is about giving the young people the opportunities he never had where he grew up.
"Performance has been a way of life for me since I was 16.  I don't know a life without it.  Now I want to pass that on.  Give the next generation a real love for the Arts and hopefully it can be as wonderful for them as it has been for me.  StageAhead is my baby, it will be built from the ground up, but can only be successful if the students are successful.  So let's get started!!   The stage is OURS so let's be the best we can"

What People Are Saying

Bethan has just done her school play and was probably the most confident on stage. She loved it! A big thank-you to you and your wonderful team for all your hard work, the results of which are really taking shape for Bethan & Bryn.

We went to the open day and my 6 year old couldn't wait to sign up. Such a lovely, enthusiastic group of staff and fantastic facilities My son had so much fun and he was really pleased to see lots of other boys there too. We have been to other theatre schools but there was such a positive vibe at StageAhead that was infectious and full of enthusiasm. I had no issue with signing my son up then and there and he is SO excited to begin class in a few weeks time.

"Wayne is super talented, creative and passionate about the industry. This, alongside his inside knowledge makes StageAhead a very exciting place to learn and develop your skills"

Wayne's talents as a performer and communicator combined with his warm generous personality will put StageAhead at the head of its field.

Wayne has a wonderful talent. He is committed to his work and has a strong belief in his ability. I am very proud of him. He is a very genuine person and a truly talented person. I loved every minute working alongside him.

I have worked with Wayne for number of years on tour and for a year in the West End in the show Dirty Dancing. I found him to be unerringly professional in his approach to work and a natural company leader. As a drama school leader his charisma and dedication can only bring success to the project.

Wayne is a fantastic performer. His talent, focus, hard work and likeability both on and off stage are undeniable. He will make a most excellent principle and mentor to any aspiring young artist

The (Christmas) show was amazing!! Theo loves attending your school!!
